SWIMMING ... NOT DROWNING

According to a WHO Report, drowning is the leading cause of death for Thai children aged 1 to 15.

With partners, over the last 10 years, we have developed a 15-hour

survival swim and water safety course for poor children attending

municipal schools in Chiang Mai, Phrao, and Phuket. Over 4,000, 9-year

old children have completed our course successfully. We are now

teaching approximately 1,000 children every year.

From the beginning we have sought to engage other Thai Rotary Clubs in our efforts and we have expanded our program through the Rotary Club Patong Beach in Phuket, the Rotary Club Royal Hua Hin in Hua Hin and we are in the process of expanding to Chiang Rai Province through the Rotary Club Mae Chan and in Lamphun through the Rotary Club Haripunchai. Our curriculum is based on the Royal Life Saving Society of the Commonwealth and we rely on international training teams coming to us through the Global Drowning Prevention Rotary Club for our swim instructors.
