Update on the Global Grant Water Project in Karen and Lahu Villages

Progress Update on the Global Grant Water Project in Karen and Lahu Villages

We’re thrilled to share an update on the ongoing water project, which is transforming lives in remote Karen and Lahu villages in the nearby mountains.

So far, we’ve successfully installed water systems in 9 out of 21 villages, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated partners at the Integrated Tribal Development Foundation (ITDF).

Progress Update on the Global Grant Water Project in Karen and Lahu Villages

Key Milestones:

  • 28,535 meters of pipe laid

  • 1,348 individuals now have access to clean water

  • 318 households served

These achievements highlight the hard work and commitment of everyone involved in bringing clean water to underserved communities in Northern Thailand.

In May, we were honored to host Wichai Maneewacharakiet, a Rotarian volunteer from the TRF Cadre of Technical Advisers. He joined our team for two days in the mountains, visiting four villages to audit and inspect progress. Despite a minor setback when Rtn. Patrick’s truck needed repairs, the visit was productive. Following this, PP John Schorr submitted our interim report, marking a key milestone as we received the full grant funds.

Work on Village 10 has been delayed due to recent flooding, but we are confident the ITDF team will resume operations shortly, weather permitting.

This project exemplifies Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and we are deeply grateful for the ongoing support from our donors, volunteers, and local communities.
