January Highlights: Bingo, Puzzles & Celebrations at BK Kee House

Gary Herman

January was quite the month at the house! The BCMF office in Mae Sot was closed the whole month of December, so there weren’t any patient transfers. Our first visit was on January 12, and we celebrated with some classic Bingo games.

At one point, someone asked me why I call B-6 and O-70. I explained that the letter ‘B’ tells you which column to look at. I was surprised that I was the only one who knew that! In any case, everyone had a great time, and we even passed out some non-sugar snacks.

Our second visit there was a bit more busy as scheduling started up again. We had a good group helping with the puzzles, and everyone really enjoyed it, both residents and Rotarians. People were having so much fun that we ended up staying past our usual lunch break of 12:00. At 12:30 I started gathering everyone for our group photo. Some patients took their time joining the group, and Colleen was staying with them. Bill wasn’t far ahead of her. After the photo, many of the patients and Colleen went back. We had puzzles for all ages, from easy young children to a 1000-piece one. Everyone joined in on the fun.

CMIRC celebrates the success of our partners. Klao Wongsingsak has been a long-time employee of Burma Children Medical Fund and has managed the house for at least as long as I’ve been involved in 2017. I’m thrilled to announce that Klao graduated from Chiang Mai Rajabhat University in October! And guess what? He got married to a lovely lady named Eh Ree in January. Congratulations from all of us!

I’d like to thank Rotarians Bill Pierce, Gordana Nardini, Nick Dale, his wife Pink, Andrew Boud, and his wife, Colleen for all their support.
