CMIRC endorses Rotarian Christian (Babar) Bollier’s project working with Chiang Mai University and the Thai Elephant Conservation Center to help autistic children.    There is considerable evidence showing that therapists using live elephants to interact with autistic children  are having  success.

The project with Chiang Mai University is the development of an elephant robot that will mimic the motion of a live elephant.  The rocking motion comforts the child.
Once the prototype elephant robot has been perfected it can be exported to areas, especially Europe, where live elephants are not available.
